What to do when learning to drive

Be relaxed. Bring your Learner Licence. If you require a Medical Certificate bring it along as well.

Our instructors endeavour to make the lessons as relaxing as possible all the time keeping you alert and aware of your surroundings. Learning to drive well is exciting and challenging.

When learning to drive, you must:

carry your learner licence with you
obey any conditions stated on your learner licence
have a zero (0.00 per cent) blood or breath alcohol limit if you are under 25 years and a blood or breath alcohol limit below 0.05 per cent if you are 25 years or over

Obtaining a Learners Permit

To apply for a learner licence you must:

be at least 16 years of age
complete the Driver Licence Application/Renewal Form
show suitable evidence of identity and Queensland residency documents
pass an eyesight test, if required
declare that you are medically fit to learn to drive the class of motor vehicle*
pass a written test of 30 questions on application of road rules
pay the road rules test fee and
pay the required learner licence fee

Learner drivers are not generally prone to having crashes, and as our vehicles are fitted with dual controls (accelerator/brake/clutch) and our Instructors/Educators are fully trained and qualified there is very minimal risk of having a collision.

*Note: If you have a medical condition that might affect your ability to drive safely, you are required to show a medical certificate from your doctor stating that you are medically fit to drive or ride safely.

Learner Driving Lessons

We offer you professional driving tuition with an Educator/Trainer/Instructor twho has over 20 years driver education experience. The lessons are conducted in modern manual and automatic vehicles. The automatic vehicles can be modified to suit learner drivers with a disability.

Pick up for the lessons can be arranged from home, school, work or university.

Even though we have a high percentage pass rate, the aim of the lessons is not only to pass the test, but to be a good, safe, defensive, aware and economical driver. Therefore we use a learning structure that is varied to suit each individuals learning and experience level. We understand that everyone learns at a different rate and therefore no unnecessary pressure is put on the learner driver to exceed their current expectations.

Learning to drive is an exciting experience and with our dual-control vehicles we provide the safest possible learning environment without the worry of having a collision. We are here to help!

According to some overseas studies Learner drivers who have had professional driver training combined with private practice are safer drivers and are more likely to be successful on their first driving test.

When we need to learn English and Maths etc., we attend school, when we wish to learn or improve our skills at playing a sport, playing a musical instrument or doing a favourite pastime etc, we use a professional teacher. So why not use Driver Education and Training Services to be taught one of the most important skills that you could learn.

We not only teach you to pass a driving test but teach the necessary skills that help with correct method of operating the vehicle, using and obeying the road rules, using the necessary defensive driving techniques to stay safe on the road, and teaching to a system that includes the three main fundamental aspects of driving, Observation, Planning and Judgement skills.

We teach techniques and practices for operating the vehicle in an economical way to reduce wear and tear on the vehicle and reduce petrol consumption and at the same time provide for passenger comfort.

When driving your aim should be to minimise the risk of a collision, maximise vehicle sympathy and economy and to get to your destination as safe and stress free as possible.

The only real person that can teach you these skills and attributes is a driver trainer.

Driving Test

The practical driving test will take approximately 40 minutes. You will be expected to demonstrate your ability to drive the vehicle safely and show that you can use your learnt knowledge in obeying the road rules, keeping the vehicle safe in varied speed zones and be able to manage various traffic situations that we come across in everyday driving.
